Newark Days Parade - September 17, 2011

Ray J is ONE OF US: Married, has 8 Children/Grandchildren who have graduated from Newark Schools and has been a Newark Resident for over 35 years...

Ray J is EXPERIENCED: Serving the Newark Community as a School Board Member, LOV Newark Board, serving on various City and Non-profit committees since 1988.

Ray J is a LEADER: He has served as President o the School Board 5 times. He has been President of Mission Valley ROP twice. He has chaired a large Hispanic Scholarship Program. Ray is one of the founders of Avanzando, a Newark Non-Profit. Ray has been a Newark Business owner since 1984.

As Mayor, Ray wants to bring community participation to City Hall and work together diligently to bring resources to the city and find solutions to make Newark great.

*Crime: Ray will organize a Citizens Committee on public safety to find ways to keep Newark safe.

*Revenue: Ray plans to create an Advisory Board that will develop a plan to attract businesses to our city, and discover ways to increase revenue and job opportunities especially for our youth.

*A One-Stop Service & Information Center

*Performing Arts and Music: Ray will ask for a feasibility study to convert the Community Center on Cedar Blvd. into a Performing Arts/Music Center and form an Arts Advisory Citizens Group to bring the culture of the Arts to our city.

*Parks & Recreation: Keeping Newark's parks safe and well maintained is a top priority for Ray. He also aims to establish a Youth Advisory Committee to hear about the needs of our youth.
